We custom fabricated this entire railing to make it look older. The client had a specific idea of what they were looking for in a picket style being square on the bottom and round on the top. The pickets were made in 2 seperate pieces and then put together. The pickets needed to look old like they had been there forever, so guys in the shop heated each one which is called scaling. The scaling causes the metal to flake off giving a worn apearance. The black paint was applied then scuffed off giving a rustic look to each picket. The picket started out as a wood prototype that was approved by the client and then went into production.
